National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology has set up the “Research Center for Hydrogen Industrial Use and Storage (HYDROGENIUS)” on July 1, 2006 in the Ito-Campus of Kyushu University. By inviting researchers from all over the world, this research center aims to establish the safety technology of hydrogen utilization.

In order to materialize the compact transportation and storage of hydrogen, this center will explore the basic science of hydrogen. The thermo-physical properties of pressurized or liquefied hydrogen, the principle of hydrogen embrittlement under pressurized and liquefied hydrogen will be investigated.

Through these researches, the center will present a guide line to industry for safe and easy utilization of hydrogen and will contribute to the establishment of infrastructures for hydrogen usage.
